Healthy eating doesn't have to be complicated... yet we make it so.
With nearly 5 years of personally coaching individuals on nutrition and wellness, it's come to this... choose foods that make you feel really good more of the time.
You may be thinking "But, Jenna I don't know what those foods are!" But I believe you intuitively know which foods are healthy for you and which are not so much. And if you're still at a loss... food journal. I encourage you to get to know your body, to understand how food is truly making you feel. The truth is that there is no "one size fits all" approach to nutrition so discovering what foods energize you and make you feel good is an empowering one that you can take with you anywhere.
In my two signature programs (Love Your Body & Food Freedom), I talk a lot about intention. Consider what your intention is behind any food choice. Is the intention to numb or avoid a feeling? Or maybe the intention is punishment for not being a certain size? Or is it an intention to fuel your body from the place of love? The state in which we consume food is almost just as important as the food itself, so consider your intentions at your next meal.
And lastly, I've said it before but it's worth repeating... let go of the all-or-nothing mindset. It's OKAY to enjoy food and indulge once in a while! A question I hear a lot from clients is "can I eat pizza?" And my answer is always the same... you're an adult, you can choose to eat anything that you want. As adults, we make decisions every day, all day. It's what you do after that decision that matters. You are not bad for eating pizza and you are not good for eating a salad. You just are.
Getting clear on your intentions and how different foods feel in your body are the real keys to healthy eating!
