I don’t know how I managed to get to 50 without knowing how to cook. Some think that it is in a woman’s DNA, but I can assure you it is not. I managed to marry someone who liked to cook so I became an expert dishwasher. After our separation, however, I managed to cobble together meals that were mostly pre-made or pre-cooked. You know what I mean.

Weight has always been a thing, but toward 50 I decided to make health a central part of my life. I joined a gym and then quit it. And then I joined again. (Financially, this is not the way to go.) This time, I met a trainer who was my age and we spent our sessions laughing and rolling our eyes at the offensiveness of ageing. Still, I couldn’t manage the food aspect of my life. I was practicing mindfulness through a couple of apps, I was working out, I nurtured good relationships with friends and family, but still, one piece of my “wholeness” was missing - Nutrition.

I was attracted to Jenna’s website because it seemed authentic and I liked her story. She had been there. The last thing I needed at 49 years old was a skinny 20-year-old to tell me to just consume fewer calories and I’ll be okay. I was turning 50 and had a lot of hormones going on, so I wanted someone who had been there, someone who knew the way. Plus, Jenna had a kick-ass resume. She had more than life experience to back her. She was a smart cookie. A smart healthy cookie. ;)

When I look in my fridge, it has completely transformed. Did you know that your body actually tells you that it likes or dislikes certain food items? Of course, I knew that, but it wasn’t until I worked with Jenna that I felt it. I think it is because I felt good for the first time in my life, so when I ate something that disrupted the balance, I felt it. I realized that my body was telling me what was nourishing and what was garbage. It allowed me to change my mindset so that I no longer wonder if it will taste good, but if it will feel good. Even saying the word “nourishment” feels good. But I’m a bit of a word nerd. :)

Each week, I was given recipes that even I could make and these have become my staple diet. I have often texted her from the grocery store to ask questions, and she always responds. She even got me through Covid-19 when my emotions spilled over into our session. My self-esteem was so low that week, and she helped me look in that mirror and realize that I was worthy of love. Especially self-love. This is often the reason why we eat and sabotage ourselves. She helped me get through that and I’ll never forget it.

My journey with Jenna was my 50th birthday gift to myself. It was my best present I received (but don’t tell anyone). I have the tools now to learn more about nutrition and digestion. I am more in tune with my body and listen to it. Jenna has taught me so much and I’ll always be grateful for that. Certainly, my refrigerator looks different today, but it is only a reflection of how I have transformed because of her.

I've struggled with my relationship with my body almost my whole life. If there is a diet or exercise regime out there, I've given it a try. These always offered short term fixes, but caused my weight to yo-yo and perpetuated the idea that there was something "wrong" with me.

I started to work with Jenna without a particular goal in mind. I didn't want to diet. I didn't want to focus on weight loss. I didn't want to be forced to change. Jenna offered me a safe space to just be, without expectations and without judgement. This was a big healing moment for me.

With Jenna's help I started to heal my relationship with food and with my body. We were able to cry together, discuss the whys together, and find a path towards being happy with who I am.

The Love Your Body Program helped me gain insight into the barriers that were holding me back from meeting my goals, and being more comfortable in my body.

I loved the supportive nature of the group setting, and the weekly group coaching, as this helped keep me on track and accountable to the goals I had set for myself.

Jenna has a great approach to teaching mindfulness, self-awareness, and self-compassion, and I really enjoyed working with her on this.

I met Jenna in September 2018. I had recently started working out at a gym where she was the Certified Holistic Nutritional Consultant. When I met with Jenna I initially wanted to get a good program put together to work alongside my training. What I ended up getting was so much more.

When I came in, I expected to be told how many servings of something to eat a day, with this much protein and that many calories and be given a plan worthy of obsession – what my experience with other nutritionists and dieticians had been. What I got what so much more. Jenna listened to me, my history, my relationship with food, and tailored a program to my specific needs. The focus wasn’t on calories and macros, but on how my body felt- how what I was eating was fueling me – physically,

mentally, and spiritually. Jenna taught me how to listen to my body. She helped me realize how I was using food to numb emotions and gave me tools to change those habits. She taught me how to incorporate certain foods into my diet to help with stress and anxiety.

On top of that, I got easy, manageable, and delicious meal plans. If I had a dislike for something, Jenna took that into account. If something wasn’t working for me, Jenna made sure we came to a solution together. The openness that Jenna brings is so helpful – it makes you really feel like a team. Everything was adaptable and easy to use. It really set me up for success.

Working with Jenna has changed my life. I feel healthier and happier. I am able to make an informed decision about the food I make, with the focus being on how it is helping me on a physical, mental, and spiritual level. I am able to look at myself and my body and feel love. Jenna is the best Nutrition Coach I have ever worked with. I recommend her to everyone I meet.

I contacted Jenna for help in my struggle with energy issues. I was fatigued mentally and physically would tire easily particularly during my workouts.

Working together we created a nutrition protocol that addressed my health goals while taking into consideration dietary issues such as dairy.

On Jenna's recommendation, I also added meditation and maximized my sleep quality.

The recipes were easy to follow and even my family enjoyed them.

Jenna was responsive and considerate when addressing the few questions I had.

After just a short time I find my mood is generally positive, I have consistent energy throughout the day and through workouts, my stress levels have decreased and - as a bonus - I have become leaner.

Even friends have inquired about my success as it appears to be quite evident.

Thank you Jenna!

I went into the KickStart Your Health Challenge with the goal to improve my eating habits, lose some weight of which would help with some pain.

The past year I've struggled with some knee issues, and it became apparent that less weight would equal less pain. My diet has always been a struggle and my biggest challenge.

I've known what too eat and not eat, but I had become comfortable with the weight I was at, and was comfortable just maintaining. The Challenge gave me the tools to cut out a lot of the bad, and the accountability I needed to start losing the weight.

The Challenge kept me on track and allowed room to indulge. The private Facebook group was nice to post questions, and a great way for Jenna to take a pulse of how the group was doing.

The weight has come off at a healthy rate, by the end of the Challenge I was down 10lbs. I'm planning healthy meals for the week, and I have tools inplace to get past my goal of getting under 200lbs.

I signed up for the 6 weeks program which introduced whole foods to me in many different ways.  This included recognizing and selecting healthier food groups like nuts, vegetables, fruits, proteins, along with less sugars, and processed foods.  Better food label knowledge allowed me to make better choices for what brands to buy and what to look out for, such as additives and preservatives.

As the weeks passed, over time, it got easier and easier.  I felt less bloated after meals, digestion felt better, and my energy levels increased and fatigue dropped.  My family was supportive through the program, my husband ate the same meals as I did and we enjoyed meal planning and grocery shopping together.  It was a fun and mutually beneficial experience as we would discuss favourite meal plans and different foods and eating experiences.  In fact, he experienced greater results than I did!

Overall, I enjoyed my experience in the program and am happy with my results.  I found the meal plans very helpful, the meals were simple, yet delicious.  This is something my husband and I plan to keep up and maintain.

I recently participated in the Simply Nurtured, 'KickStart Your Health Challenge'. It was a fantastic experience with Jenna offering wonderful support, recommendations, advice and encouragement.

Through the challenge not only did I lose some weight, I more importantly began some positive habits. I'm writing this about two and a half weeks after the end of the challenge and I'm happy to say that not only has the weight stayed off, the good habits have continued. I continue to eat well, sleep well and feel terrific overall.

I appreciate this being a six week challenge, because it allowed me to really focus on my habits and routines for a good length of time. I approached the Challenge as a beginning of change; I'm thrilled to say it was a great choice and I highly recommend it!

The KickStart Your Health Challenge was an exciting program that worked really well with my motivations and wants to kick off the year.

I lost weight and had significantly more energy to get through the day. After tailoring the amount of protein I needed the meal plan was fantastic. Most of it was really tasty with an ability; to hide vegetables, and change pork to chicken or turkey, in almost everything was easy. The weekly plans detailed to me what I was going to eat and I adjusted the amounts and snacked regularly on vegetables and water to ensure energy was always up without feeling hungry and cranky.

The recipes and challenges within the challenge were simple and easy enough to carry forward in my life. Thank you for the Challenge and support to complete it.
