Pina Colada Green Smoothie

Updated: Feb 13

What makes my Pina Colada Green Smoothie great for those trying to conceive?

Coconut milk provides saturated fat that is vital for fertility and balancing reproductive hormones. Saturated fat is required to produce cholesterol, which is a precursor to all steroid hormones including progesterone, estrogen and follicle-stimulating hormone. Pineapple provides antioxidants, vitamin C, which helps to enhance fertility; as antioxidants help to counteract free radicals that damage the reproductive system. Banana contains vitamin B6 which is essential for regulating sex hormones. Furthermore, research suggests that women who consume adequate vitamin B6 report less morning sickness after conception. Cucumber provides folate that is needed for the rapid cell growth of fetal development. Folic acid is also known to decrease the possibility of a neural tube defect once you conceive. Spinach contains vitamin A which promotes follicle development. Spirulina is rich in antioxidants to support the health and integrity of the egg.

  • 1 cup of coconut milk

  • 1/2 cup coconut water

  • 1/2 cup pineapple

  • 1 banana

  • 1/2 cucumber

  • 1 handful of spinach
